24-27 April 1999 In Washington D.C. on vacation. I had and took the opportunity to tour the West Wing of the White House, including the Oval Office, Roosevelt Room, Cabinet Room, Rose Garden, and Press Room. Additionally, I sat in on Oral Arguments in the Supreme Court, toured the U.S. Capitol, saw the Declaration of Independence, Constitution, Magna Carta, etc., in the National Archives, and in general hung out among the buildings and monuments in a wonderfully historical city.

12 April 1999 Saw the David Grisman Quintet and Bela Fleck at the Paramount Theater in Seattle. This was a GREAT show...

12 July 1998 While in Port Townsend, WA with Hollie, I saw Tom Robbins , author of such books as Even Cowgirls Get the Blues and Still Life With Woodpecker, give a lecture at a writers conference there.

26 June - 6 July 1998 Roadtripped throughout the western United States, 4208 miles in ten days, part of the way (until Los Angeles) with Dave and the entire way with Hollie. In order, from Seattle: Portland, OR (saw Kisa); the Redwood Forest and the Pacific Coast Highway (Cali #1); Napa Valley (the Robert Mondavi winery ); San Francisco (stayed in Haight-Ashbury and hung out with Bob Asher); Los Angeles (and Venice and Newport Beaches); Phoenix, AZ; the Rainbow Gathering in the Apache National Forest in eastern Arizona; then through Arizona to the Hoover Dam; Las Vegas, NE; Death Valley , CA (it hit 116 degrees F at 6:30 PM as we played in the sand dunes at -150 ft); Mt. Whitney (the tallest mountain in the lower 48 states) and the Sierra Nevada mountain range; Reno, NE (rather podunk compared to Vegas); and the Mount St. Helen National Park in southern Washington State (the lava canyon is beautiful).

14-16 June 1998 In Boston on business, I hung out at the original Cheers , which was rather disappointing. Otherwise, Boston was a lot of fun, historical, and wet.

9 June 1998 My father, Robert M. Tamasi, of a certain Kansas City fame, turned 50 years old. Over the hill is he!

30 May 1998 My roommate Mike and I moved into a great apartment immediately southeast of downtown Seattle , with great views of the Kingdome, Elliot Bay, and Pioneer Square... our new number there: (206) 382-9200.

6-10 May 1998 I ate my first fried cactus and sampled my first buffalo while in Sedona, AZ ... quite an interesting place just a hundred miles north of Phoenix. The rocks are really red and everyone there believes in extraterrestrial life...

22-26 April 1998 While in Kansas City/Lawrence on vacation with my roommate Mike, I saw many old friends, had a party in our room at the Eldridge Hotel \ in Lawrence, and relaxed a lot...

2-6 April 1998 In Denver on vacation, I stayed with my cousin Lyle; hung out in Boulder and the Rocky Mountain National Park outside Estes Park, CO.

17 March 1998 In Dublin, Ireland for St. Patrick's Day, I spent most of the evening wandering Temple Bar, a quite-popular area of the city just south of the river Liffey and about a mile or so inland. To all of those who say that the Americans celebrate Paddy's day more than the Irish, you don't know what the hell you're talking about!

28 January 1998 I toured the naval base in Bangor, WA, and walked on and all the way through the USS Alabama (SSBN-726) , a U.S. Trident II nuclear missile submarine, loaded with 24 ICBMs tipped with MIRVs (Multiple Impact Reentry Vehicles). Eerie.

1 January 1998: I just returned to Seattle from four days in Chicago, where I saw Ian, Sharon, Sallee, and Joree, the latter three for the first time in years. New Year's Eve was spent with Jon Spencer's Blues Explosion at the Metro on Clark.

22-27 December 1997: In Kansas City for the holidays.

13-21 December 1997: In Europe for Microsoft; visited Dublin and Copenhagen.

30 November 1997: I just returned to Seattle from Thanksgiving in Kansas City... Notable: Plaza Lights on Thursday, Lawrence, KS, on Friday, and the long-awaited reunion of S.P.I. in the basement of Jeff and Eric on Saturday.

16 November 1997: In Denver on vacation, I witnessed the Chiefs' last minute victory over the Broncos, saw my old friend Nina, and caught Phish at McNichols Arena.

19 October 1997: So far, this has been a great transition and I'm quite content to be passing my time in the Emerald City!

15 August 1997: I recently moved from Lawrence, Kansas to the Pacific Northwest to work for the Microsoft Corporation .

4-5 July 1997 My first visit to the Pacific Northwest; Andy and I attended the 1997 North American Gathering of the Rainbow Family of Living Light, or the Rainbow Gathering , in the Ochocco National Forest in central Oregon.
